COMMUNITY

Peter Seligman
'My children and I are blessed to be living in a dynamic city with a vibrant, diverse community. I believe that I am really lucky to be able to give back to the community. And, like so many other volunteers, giving time, talent and treasure repays in a small way all of the benefits that we have received.'
Community service is a cornerstone of my culture. I feel that contributing to the well-being of our community is integral and as such, I continuously invest my time and energy in important causes.
About Peter Seligman
Peter's philosophy of giving has been cultivated over many decades, beginning at an early age. As a teenager, Peter started to donate blood to help those in need. To date, he has donated blood more than 220 times, benefiting Canadian Blood Services and their many patients. He is also involved closely with the Kidney Foundation.

Passionate about the virtues of knowledge and understanding, Peter is a committed supporter of educational excellence. To that end, Peter has been involved with a number of educational institutions including the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto (CHAT), where he chaired the Development Campaign and was instrumental in the early years of the Toronto Heshel School.

Peter's acumen for leadership, caring and guidance has been invaluable to the Boards of The Baycrest Foundation, Temple Emanu-El, Weizmann Science Canada and Jewish Family and Child Services.

As a hands-on volunteer, he is also a perennial participant in the Out of the Cold initiative, preparing and serving meals to more than 100 homeless people in Toronto, the 100 Km Barrie to Baycrest (B2B) Fundraising Ride, now in its 25th year as well as a member of the organizing committee for the Mount Sinai/Bridgepoint Hospitals Hero Ride from Toronto to Collingwood and back.
